Movie Quirks

March 17, 2008 · 19 Comments

Now that Nita has tagged me (thanx Nita), I thought of giving it a try. Reason #1 I love movies, I never used to miss a single movie at the theater and at my favorite CD rental shop. Now that times have changed (got settled with family) time for all this is one big factor.

But my movie quirks? Here it goes.

  1. I dislike sitting in the corner too. I don’t like the feeling of wall on my side !!! Nor I like sitting very close to the screen, that gives me a feeling that I am watching tennis. The characters move around and I have to turn my head right/left all the time. Once my neck hurt so bad after a movie. :)

  2. I hate people talking on the phone, cellphone ringing, people walking in front of the screen during the movie.

  3. I dislike people who do the dubbing themselves to help their partner/friend, from hindi-english. English- kannada. Dude rent a DVD.

  4. I can’t stand the documentaries (Film Division ones) and I crib till the movie start !!!

  5. I don’t like walking our a movie if its too good ( I sit there till they complete the credits with the original soundtrack), but sadly everyone gets up and start pushing ! And the theater guy never shows the entire credits and soundtrack.

  6. I hate when the person siting ahead of me is very tall or worse when he wear a cap !

  7. If the power goes out (it happens in kerala a lot !!) when I am hooked to the movie is a big turn off.

  8. I never save the popcorn for the movie ( either I finish it before the movie starts or during the interval) weird huh?

  9. I like to reach the theater half an hour early even if I have made reservations. (my friends used to hate me for this). I just want to get settled parking the vehicle, buying popcorns etc.

  10. The one thing I hate is seeing couples getting real cozy and ……..worse things in theaters. DUDE GET A ROOM ! :) lol

    I have tagged couple of my blogroll friends :

Balu

ish

Vijay

Nedfrine

Sreejith

Anshul

If you guys have already done this or got better things to do,most welcome !! :D

    I totally agree with number 6! And it’s even worse for me because even if somebody moderately tall sits in front of me, I can’t see. Gah, how I hate being short.

    Anyway, I’ll do this after the 20th because I have my Math exam on that day. If I survive it, I’ll surely do it.

    entertaining Xylene! That’s what I like about this meme, it’s great fun to read…and you realise that you are the only nut around! :) I think this meme is going to be a successful one.
    About 6, do you know that in some cinemas now they offer cushions? :)

  • Xylene // March 17, 2008 at 7:34 am | Reply

    @Nita,

    :) haha. yeah, this was interesting as you have so much to write !
    Cushions, really? This reminds me of my barber (hair dresser) back home who used a plank on the seat, for me to sit on, when I was a kid ! :)

  • Anshul // March 17, 2008 at 7:43 am | Reply

    Cushions and blanket etc, with reclining seats, and they serve you food like Tandoori chicken, paneer tikka etc too along with donuts,popcorns,soft drinks etc.

    @Anshul,
    Then I would just eat and sleep ,forget all about the movie :)

    I hate poeple bringing pizza in the theatre… specially when I’m not one of them… God I can smell them from 10 seats away.

    By the way.. you might wanna try using (&fmt=18) to enhance some videos from youtube. But just take note that only “some” videos can be enhanced using this trick.. depending on the format really. but it’s very easy by the way.

    The code is: &fmt=18

    or you can just go to…. http://3critical.wordpress.com

    it’s more complete and detailed.. it

    @xylene: 8:30 for a 10:00 pm train.. that sounds very reasonable :-)

  • Xylene // March 18, 2008 at 6:25 am | Reply

    @Vijay,
    Well not for the ones who are used to in reaching 5 mins early.
    :)

  • Nita // March 18, 2008 at 11:51 am | Reply

    There are some cinemax theaters which offer just that Xylene. Huge reclining chairs, a lot of space in between and it’s better than flying first class! well, amost. we tried it once and thank god it was the most horrible movie and so we surivived because of the seats!

    Most of the things re same. Only I am too engrossed in a movie to notice couples cozying up in the corner. Though I look down upon couples cozying in parks. And I am bit surprised. Does power really get off in middle of a movie playing in a theater?IT never has happened with me in Delhi.

  • Xylene // March 29, 2008 at 5:31 am | Reply

    @Poonam,
    Yes power do go off at theatres in ‘god’s own country’
    but the brigter side is u can watch movies for as low as 40Rs in theatres with DTS, Dolby, A/C… all the latest movies.
