(Proposed advertisment for Tags, which will hit the media soon)
——————————————————————————————–

Okay so I got tagged.

Here is the first one from Vishesh.

6 quirks are about me :-

1) When I get nervous, I just eat eat and eat!

2) I have the FRIENDS DVD and have watched it like the umpteenth time.

3) I love going out for looong drives even if it’s just going in circles.

4) I can’t survive without at least one movie a week.

5) If I like a song, I listen to it again and again. When I drive, cook, work….. almost all the time. And I never get bored until of course when I another song hit me. It need not be a new one; it can be an old classic. Err, I think everyone does that. So this is everyone’s quirk !

6) I am a cleanliness freak. I can spend all day cleaning the house. I don’t like the feel of dust on my bare foot.

Manoj tagged me with some questions.

1. What have you realized recently?

That I work for peanuts.

2. Have you given your first kiss away?

YEP!

3. If you were to be stranded on a deserted island, who are the 11 blog buddies you would take?

Only if I have internet connection and a port to connect my laptop at the island I would be happy all alone.

4. Where is the place that you want to go the most?

Times Square NY.

5. If you can have 1 dream to come true, what would it be?

A World trip !

6. Do you believe in seeing a rainbow after the rain?

Yes! Who said its fake?

7. What are you afraid to lose the most now?

My parking space in front of the house, most probably it will be occupied by the person living on the third floor ! .

8. If you win $1 million, what would you do?

Refer answer 5.

9. If you meet someone that you love, would you confess to him/her?

I am living with her now. Nothing to confess so far!!

10. List out 3 good points of the person who tagged you.

Manoj always appreciate me for my writing. He always like my posts. So he should be a good guy. :D

 11. What are the requirements that you wish from your other half?

Too late !

12. Which type of person do you hate the most?
Ahh ! The “autowalla type”. If you don’t know what that means, read this.

13. What is the one thing you cannot live without?

My family.

14. If you have faults, would you rather the people around you point out to you or would you rather they keep quiet?

It depends on the faults. Some are best left unsaid.

15. What do you think is the most important thing in your life?

Refer answer 13.

16. Are you a shopaholic or not?

No, but I swipe my credit card mostly for my wife. Uh oh, she is ! but I love shopping for jeans.

17. Find a word to describe the person who tagged you.

Aaha I get it. This is one way to get people talk good about you ! ‘GOOD’

18. If you have a chance. Which part of your character you would like to change?

Nah I have a blog, so I should be perfect. Right?

19. What’s the last shocking thing you’ve seen or heard?

That the interest rates of loans are going to increase! SHOCKING!

20. Would you rather have love but no money or money but no love?

I think money can’t buy love, but love can’t buy money either, nor can you order money or love separately.

ha !

Just love, but enough money to survive ( survive = Buy a BMW, own a house at Beverly Hills, own a fleet of Hummers, Go for a world trip, win question 8, start Hotel Business, a beach house at Hawai and Goa. etc etc.)

I was tagged by Nita.

What are the 7 favourite things you enjoyed doing as a child? I wonder if many bloggers will find out many similarities? Is a childhood everywhere the same, or is it much coloured by the cultural/social background?

  1. Climbing guava trees and eating guava right on the tree. We had like 6 trees around our house. I would sometimes spend my evening climbing it and eating all of the ripe ones right on the tree. Talking of tree climbing, I loved climbing coconut trees too, but my parents were far too afraid to let me climb them as the news always said about some who died from falling off a coconut tree. I don’t think now I have the ability to walk to a coconut tree ! L

  1. Swimming: I loved swimming. We had a river near by where the water would rise during monsoons and will have strong currents. We would jump into the river to be swept away and then finally manage to climb back shore half a km downstream. It was cool. Although we will always be left with some bruises and scrapes.

  1. Time Bombs. Come Christmas season and my dad would bring all the crackers. I set time bombs on it using agarbatti strapped to it and leave it at strategic place to scare people. One would be at the servant quarters, the other near the place people come to pluck grass. And run for my life when they come chasing me.

  1. Stories: I used to write strange stories like ‘The magic carpet and Ramu’ which of course was borrowed (inspired from <like apna Bollywood>) many existing fairy tales.

  1. Dancing : I am real ‘good’ at it, my brother and myself would wear some funky clothes, switch off the light, play music and use a torch to give disco effects and dance!. I think it was Michael Jackson inspiration.

  1. Cycling : I was always inspired by the off road cycling and used to ride my cycle everywhere except the road. Do stunts like riding down steep stairs, zip zag through dangerously close rubber trees etc.

  1. Read comics. When we were in Chennai, we had a library nearby. We used to take 10-20 comics including Phantom, Mandrake, Archie, Tintin, Asterix( I still read this many times over), Chacha Choudary etc and just spend the whole day reading them.

I am not tagging anyone. But I would love to hear the last tag from each and everyone of you who is reading this. Consider yourself ‘tagged’. If you don’t have time to do the second tag, atleast answer question 10 and 17, make my day, say some good things about me.

The Brand Tag

with 27 comments

Rekha and Vishesh tagged me to do the Brand tag. I managed to google out some of the brands I use everyday, I know I missed many.  The pictures are from the company sites. So companies, consider this as a free ad and you can pay me if you like or hire me as your brand ambassador.

I am not tagging anyone. :)   Update :  Since everyone has a doubt on where exactly all these brands apply to, let me explain.

I use colgate toothpaste. Hindware .. I have two mobile phones (Nokia and Motorola). I read The Hindu sipping bru every day morning resting on my featherlite bean bag. I check my email using hathway internet connection on my compaq laptop. I use openoffice to write my blog posts and post them on wordpress. I watch my favorite movies on my Philips DVD player and my samsung TV. I have connected my Creative Speakers to the DVD player for extra sound effects.

I wear my Nike (or Adidas) shoe to work along with a pair of Lee (or Levis or Pepe)  blue jeans and an Adidas t-shirt (or levis).. I try to smell good with Axe.

The company TATA car picks me up  from my home place. I take cup of coke from the vending machine once I reach office. I arm myself with a POLO after lunch. I logon to my windows Dell computer with Logitech keyboard and mouse. I use Nortel Networks phone on my desk. I read The Economist at the pantry. I take my bajaj Pulsar in the evening for a ride.

July Tag Season

with 31 comments

Vishesh and Nita tagged me with the simplest tag of this ‘tag season’

    Write 6 words.

Love, Family, Faith, Dreams, Happiness, Friends

Ten things people here do not know about me

  1. I day dream a lot.
  2. I am cynophobic.
  3. I love music when it’s played in full volume.
  4. I (plan to) exercise everyday.
  5. My nickname is xylene because my first email id(1999) started with ‘xylene’.
  6. I hate vegetables.
  7. I am patient (for 5 minutes).
  8. I watch cookery shows, although I don’t try out any.
  9. I am a Piscean.
  10. I love color green.

5 People I love to hate?

  1. ‘Auto driver type’. I don’t like people who change their word every 100 meters.
  2. ‘Destroy something else to get back type’. To define this kinda people I have to go back to college when one guy who had strong grudges against my friend, pulled out my friend’s bike’s petrol tube to get back at him. There was a BIG fight after that. :D . I don’t like such cowards.
  3. ‘The preach only, no practicing type’ or ‘looking at the speck of sawdust in the brother’s eye while paying no attention to the plank in his own eye type’   This is self explanatory.
  4. ‘The leech type’ who tries to use others for their own benefit. This includes some people who come over, when they are visiting the city, spend a week get their work done and then don’t call again, until of course when they visit the city again.
  5. ‘Typical relative type’ who poke his/her head in every matter.

I am tagging Balu, Suda, sandeep, Reema and ish. I think everyone else has done this, if not, be my guest.

The Expansionist?

with 17 comments

I got tagged by Sandeep n Sakhi.
Please thoughtfully consider the following, and choose one item for each of the categories below. (Be sure to describe your reasons for choosing)

One religious work from a non-familiar tradition you’ll read:
Kuran. I have tried reading an English version when I was a kid.

One music video–that you like–from your “least likely to listen to’ genre:
The one can remember is ‘Palavatam’ by Vineeth Sreenivasan its a new malayalam music video. :D

A book from a genre you almost never read, that you have read, or you will read (promise!):
I always want to complete all chapters in Bible. It’s sad that I have not done that till now. :(

Somewhere you’d never thought to go on holiday/vacation, and why it might be fun to go there?
New York, I just love those skyscrapers and Times Square.

A specific food you’ve never tried, but will because of this meme, honest!:
I would love to taste the worms and roaches that the Chinese eat. It should be tasty. I am not kidding. I love frog legs by the way. Yummy.

A sport or game you really hate or haven’t tried yet but are willing to give one more go:
I could give a try at golf.

A style of dance you probably won’t try (we won’t make you promise on this one):
Kathakali. I wouldn’t try. Well it takes a lifetime to learn.

A career job you don’t feel you’re suited for, and why:
Teaching. I am sure I suck.

An item that’s “thinking out of the box’ for this meme that hadn’t been included:
Hmmm. Hmmmm again. Hmmmm. Why did you start blogging? : hmmm again. Ans : why did I ever start doing this meme ?? :)

Is there one thing in life you wanted to do, and will do because of this meme, what will it be?
Do a space walk. I really want to see our dear earth from outer space.

I guess everyone has done this tag, so I am not tagging anyone.

Movie Quirks

with 19 comments

Now that Nita has tagged me (thanx Nita), I thought of giving it a try. Reason #1 I love movies, I never used to miss a single movie at the theater and at my favorite CD rental shop. Now that times have changed (got settled with family) time for all this is one big factor.

But my movie quirks? Here it goes.

  1. I dislike sitting in the corner too. I don’t like the feeling of wall on my side !!! Nor I like sitting very close to the screen, that gives me a feeling that I am watching tennis. The characters move around and I have to turn my head right/left all the time. Once my neck hurt so bad after a movie. :)

  2. I hate people talking on the phone, cellphone ringing, people walking in front of the screen during the movie.

  3. I dislike people who do the dubbing themselves to help their partner/friend, from hindi-english. English- kannada. Dude rent a DVD.

  4. I can’t stand the documentaries (Film Division ones) and I crib till the movie start !!!

  5. I don’t like walking our a movie if its too good ( I sit there till they complete the credits with the original soundtrack), but sadly everyone gets up and start pushing ! And the theater guy never shows the entire credits and soundtrack.

  6. I hate when the person siting ahead of me is very tall or worse when he wear a cap !

  7. If the power goes out (it happens in kerala a lot !!) when I am hooked to the movie is a big turn off.

  8. I never save the popcorn for the movie ( either I finish it before the movie starts or during the interval) weird huh?

  9. I like to reach the theater half an hour early even if I have made reservations. (my friends used to hate me for this). I just want to get settled parking the vehicle, buying popcorns etc.

  10. The one thing I hate is seeing couples getting real cozy and ……..worse things in theaters. DUDE GET A ROOM ! :) lol

I have tagged couple of my blogroll friends :

Balu

ish

Vijay

Nedfrine

Sreejith

Anshul

If you guys have already done this or got better things to do,most welcome !! :D

Blog Stats

with 3 comments

I was just going through the Blog Stats section today and I am surprised to see how people land on my blog. It’s hilarious, yet questioning how the search engines direct people to the wrong site and providing them with less or no information on what they were searching for. I am not complaining though…..  (I did not get the first HIT)  Some of the items they searched were

“security guard in trivandrum” and he got this post : Security Guards

“writing a complaint against employee” and he got directed to this post Tips In Writing a Complaint

“pureit water purifier” this is valid and he got this post. Review 1

“complaint against auto meters in Bangalore”  and “bangalore autorickshaw complaint” Scary AutoRickshaws !

Bangalore mirror website” he got this post  Another Post Featured in Bangalore Mirror.

I guess its high time they start a website on their own.. :D

“stupid American inventions” and he got this post American ‘Inventors’

“”how to take revenge”” Gosh !!!! Imagine what people are searching on google !!!! and he got this  I hate dogs from 3rd July 2007

I guess there are more people out there who had bad experiences with the auto rickshaws in Bangalore who reached my blog that anyone else.
